Welcome to the Los Padres Poultry Fanciers!
The Los Padres Poultry Fanciers are located in the heart of the Central Coast of California, surrounded by the beautiful Los Padres National Forest and the Pacific Ocean. Our membership mostly consists of poultry hobbyists, breeders and enthusiasts from the counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Kern.
This region of California is quickly gaining popularity as an excellent location for rearing of exhibition fowl, due to a consistently moderate climate with warmer winters and cooler summers than most areas in the state.
Our organization was founded in Santa Maria, California in August of 2011, as a means to promote a local interest in the breeding, rearing, and exhibition of purebred poultry and waterfowl. We encourage good sportsmanship, honest trade, and a willingness to learn within our membership. Our main focus is that of sharing information and developing camaraderie between people with a common interest in Exhibition Poultry.
Our organization is based out of Santa Maria, but is geographically comprised of the counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Kern. Each county makes up one of the four districts our organization covers, and each has its own district director and meeting schedule. This allows us the resources and voice of a larger club, while keeping the feel of a small organization. Our monthly meetings are a place to discuss local poultry issues, share information and to enjoy the company of other fanciers. We maintain a thorough local breeders directory made up of our membership, which is published annually and posted HERE, alphabetically by district. We proudly hold membership with the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association. We publish a quarterly newsletter which is mailed to all members, in addition to holding an annual spring poultry show every February.
